HealthierU: Weight Loss & Management

Weight loss is a tricky subject. Few people really understand the healthy way to lose weight. Diets, calorie counting, fasting, you name it, we have all fallen victim to it. Initially, they may work and produce the results we want, but more times than not, people gain back the weight they lose because they cannot transition back into a healthier lifestyle. They believe that once the “diet” is complete they can go back to their original way of eating.

What people don’t understand is that healthy weight loss is a lifestyle change.
Eating healthier, incorporating exercise, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy weight loss should be 1-2 lbs. a week.  Of course, initially, we usually see more in the first 2 weeks, but after that 1-2 lbs. a week should be the norm.

Before starting or stopping any program, diet, supplement, or medication always consult your physician. This is meant to be informative, and in no way meant to diagnose, treat, or advise. Always consult your physician or health care provider.

Supplement of the Month

Crave Control is our custom supplement blend that is optimized to crush cravings, which in turn can help you maintain a healthier weight. It contains ingredients that support the production of dopamine and serotonin. Increasing the production of these “reward” neurotransmitters helps to relieve depression, promotes appetite control, and reduces cravings so that you can avoid eating when you AREN’T hungry and make healthier food choices when you ARE hungry.

Recipe of the Month: Homemade Chocolate Coconut Bars

Craving something sweet? Whip up this easy, satiating treat for a healthier alternative to processed sugars and artificial flavors. This recipe has just a few ingredients and is packed with fiber, MCTs and omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and antioxidant and antibacterial properties that may offer a number of benefits in moderation, including improved heart health, weight loss, and digestion.
  • 6 tbsp coconut oil
  • 6 tbsp raw honey
  • 16 tbsp cocoa/cacao powder
  • 1 tsp concentrated natural vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 4 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 cups or more coconut flakes
Place all ingredients except for the coconut into a medium-sized bowl and mix until well combined and looking deliciously chocolatey. Stir in the coconut. Pour the mixture into a glass container lined with parchment paper. Cover and place in the fridge or freezer for a few hours to set — the longer, the firmer. Slice & serve. It is best the day after making. Store in the fridge to avoid melting.
